Anthony T., with 2.5/3, was top scorer in the Scheveningen-paired G/15 event.

New Year's Eve Blitz

On New Year's Eve (Saturday 12/31), Chess Mates will be running a blitz tournament with 100% of entry fees returned as prizes. Food will be provided, too! The action begins at 7 p.m.

Winter Camp Discounts

Our Winter Camp is fast approaching. This will be a week long camp beginning December 26 and running through Dec. 30. Grand Master Yudasin will be the head instructor and National Master Arthur Macaspac will be assisting.
 
We are giving discounts to club members (10% off) and those registered by Dec. 24th (5% off). This info was left out of our previous flyer.

ECC-Chess Mates Postponed Again

The match between Essex County College and Chess Mates has been postponed, again.

Sunday Open Quads Moving To Earlier Time

Beginning Sunday, January 1, we will be holding our Open G/30 Quads from 3-6 p.m., alongside our Scholastic G/30 Quads.

1st prize in each quad (Open & Scholastic) will now be $30 or a trophy. The entry fee remains at $10 for Chess Mates members/$15 for non-members.

Pena & Kellinsky-Gonzalez Tie In Scholastic

Joel Pena and Kevin Kellinsky-Gonzalez tied for 1st in yesterday's Scholastic G/30. Neil Mehta and Albert Tang tied for 3rd.

Barsky, Macaspac & Flores Tie In U2200

Expert Sam Barsky, NM Arthur Macaspac and Jeyson Flores tied for 1st in yesterday's 10-player U2200 Swiss.

Jonathan Aisoni, Sriram Kumar and Gaby Marani split the U1400 prize.

The event will be submitted for rating later today or tomorrow.

Lessons For Advanced Players

Beginning in January, GM Leonid Yudasin's lessons for advanced players will take place from 6-7 p.m. every Sunday evening. The fee for the hour of instruction is $15.

ECC-Chess Mates Re-scheduled

The postponed match between Essex County College and Chess Mates has been re-scheduled. It will be played in Rahway, on Friday, December 23rd, at 8:00 p.m.

Yudasin Wins Wednesday Blitz

GM Leonid Yudasin won Wednesday's strong, unrated blitz tournament ahead of NM Maraj Daftani. NM Arthur Macaspac and expert Lev Zilbermintz split the U2200 prize.

Lohr & O'Connor Win Saturday U1800

Warren Lohr (1756) and Michael O'Connor (1714) won Saturday's U1800 Tournament with 3.5/4. Ryan Hoang (1520) finished 3rd.

Chess Mates Fall To Newark

In Friday night's Garden State Chess League action, Chess Mates lost to Newark-McDonalds 3-1. Roger Pedersen's win on board 2 was our only bright spot.
