Holmak Wins Saturday Open Swiss

Joseph Holmak (1687) won today's G/45 Swiss with 3.5/4 score. Jarrett Dewelde finished 2nd. Don Varneckas was 3rd.

Here is a round-up of Chess Mates' recent events:

• Sumer Maini won the Fall Camp Championship held November 10-11. Dilsher Maini was 2nd.

• Karandeep Singh and Ramneek Singh won the Scholastic G/30 held on Nov. 13.

•  Edward Hu won the Scholastic G/30 held on Nov. 20.

• GM Leonid Yudasin won the unrated blitz tournament held on Nov. 21. Danny Palacios was 2nd.

Newark-McD Vs. Chess Mates Re-scheduled

The postponed match between Newark-McDonald's and Chess Mates has been re-scheduled. It will be played in Rahway, on Friday, November 18th, at 7:30 p.m.

Anthony & Moldovan Win Saturday Quad

Allen Anthony II and John Moldovan tied for 1st place in today's tournament. Frank Bloise and Ronghad Chen also took part.

Newark-Chess Mates Match Postponed

Thursday's Newark-Chess Mates match in Rahway has been postponed.

Yearly Membership Dues Reduced

Chess Mates has reduced its membership rates.

Beginning November 1st, they will be:

Adult: $85 per year.
Senior (62 and up): $65 per year.
Youth (18 and Under): $65 per year.

Membership benefits include entry fee discounts, access to the club, use of our equipment and books.

November Schedule

Our tournament schedule for November has been added to the sidebar under Upcoming Events.

We will be closed on the 3rd, 4th, 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th & 29th.

Chess Mates Closed Fri. & Sat. 10/21-22

Chess Mates will be closed today and tomorrow: Friday, October 21st and Saturday, October 22nd.

Our regular schedule will resume Sunday, October 23rd.

Blitz & Lessons For 10/12 & 10/19 Rescheduled

To allow for religious observances, we have moved GM Yudasin's chess lessons and our Blitz Tournaments from Wednesday, October 12th and Wednesday, October 19th to Tuesday, October 11th and Tuesday, October 18th.

All other schedules will remain the same.

Sunday Evening Quads

Chess Mates will be running G/30 Open Quads every Sunday evening, at 6 p.m., starting tonight.

EF: $20 ($15 for our members)
Prizes: $50 to 1st in each quad. Free lesson to 2nd in each quad.

New Tuesday Swiss

Beginning October 4th, Chess Mates will be running month-long Tuesday Swiss tournaments with time controls of 40/75 followed by SD/15.

1 game per week
Entry Fee: $25 ($20 for our members)
Prizes: 70% of EF, based on the # of participants.
