Norowitz Wins G/45

SM Yaacov Norowitz won today's G/45 Swiss with a 4.5/5 score. GM Mark Paragua was 2nd, a half-point back. Praveen Balakrishnan earned the U2000 prize while NM Arthur Macaspac & Joshua Colas received U2200 honors.

NM Arthur Macaspac won Tuesday's G/30. Ralph Warrick was 2nd. Arthur Curry and Joe Renna also participated.

GM Leonid Yudasin went a perfect 4-0. NM Maraj Daftani was 2nd. Arthur Macaspac took the U2100 honors.

Thursday Blitz
9/23

Mauricio Camejo won 3.5/4. NM Maraj Daftani again finished 2nd. Lev Zilbermintz and NM Arthur Macaspac split the U2100 prize.

Paragua Repeats In G/45

GM Mark Paragua won yesterday's G/45 Swiss by a full point; as he did on Sept 12th.

IM Justin Sarkar & SM Yaacov Norowitz tied for 2nd.

Sam Barsky, Mauricio Camejo & Kavinayan Sivakumar split the U2200 prize. Camejo was also tops among U2000s.

1565-rated Frank Bloise scored the biggest upset of the day, beating NM Arthur Macaspac in round 4.

October 10th Swiss Canceled

The G/45 Swiss scheduled for Sunday, October 10th has been canceled.

Chess Mates will be open to the public that day and have its Grand Opening festivities.

GM Leonid Yudasin & NM Maraj Daftani tied for 1st in Monday's 8-player blitz. Mauricio Camejo earned the U2100 prize while David Rubenfeld of N.Y. took the U1900 prize.


Thursday Blitz
9/16

GM Leonid Yudasin won Thursday's blitz with a perfect 5-0 score. NM Maraj Daftani was 2nd. NM Arthur Macaspac & Mauricio Camejo split the U2100 prize. David Rubenfeld again claimed the U1900 honors.

GM Mark Paragua won yesterday's G/45. SM Yaacov Norowitz was 2nd. IM Justin Sarkar and FM Arthur Shen tied for 3rd.

Sunday Prize Fund Changes, Take 2

Beginning with our September 19th event, $100 U2200 and U2000 prizes will only be awarded if there are 15 or more players in the Sunday G/45 Swiss. If there are fewer players, there will be $50 prizes in those categories.

GM Paragua Simul On 9/30

On Thursday, September 30, GM Mark Paragua will be giving a Simultaneous Exhibition at Chess Mates.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the cost is $15 per player. This fee also applies to Chess Mates members.

Yudasin Simul On 9/27

On Monday, September 27, GM Leonid Yudasin will be giving his monthly Simultaneous Exhibition at Chess Mates.

The event, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., is free for our members and $15 for all other participants.

Members' Lecture On 9/20

GM Leonid Yudasin's September free for members lecture will take place on Monday the 20th, at 6:30 p.m.

The fee for non-members is $15.

Daftani Wins Thursday Blitz

NM Maraj Daftani won Thursday's Blitz tournament. Mauricio Camejo was 2nd.

Chess Mates Joins Garden State League

Chess Mates has entered a team in the Garden State Chess League. We will open the season on Tuesday, October 5th in West Orange and our schedule features 4 matches in Rahway.
