Guido Kampel defeated Mauricio Camejo last night to capture first place in Chess Mates' February G/90 tourney.

Serge Adelson finished 2nd. Jim Castellano and Larry Williams were the top U1500 scorers.

Camejo Wins Sunday G/30

Expert Maurico Camejo was the winner of the G/30 Quad held on February 24th. Thomas Elberling was 2nd.

Camejo has won 5 of the 6 Sunday tournaments we have held in 2013!

Polyakin Wins Dr. Machan Open 16

LM Vladimir Polyakin won the Dr. Luzivminda Machan Open XVI, which was held on February 23rd.

LM Sam Barsky, Mauricio Camejo and Lev Zilbermints tied for 2nd. Harrison Termotto won the U2000 prize.

Chess Mates Closed Saturday & Sunday

Chess Mates will be closed Saturday, February 16th and Sunday, February 17th, as most players will be attending the U.S. Amateur Team East tournament in Parsippany.

FM Boris Privman was the clear winner with 3.5/4. NM Sameer Mujumdar and LM Jim West tied for 2nd. Mauricio Camejo and Thomas Elberling tied for 4th.

Elberling's 3rd round draw with West was the biggest upset.

GM Leonid Yudasin was the winner with 3.0/3.

The next Dr. Machan Grand Prix is on February 23rd while the next Sunday G/30 is February 24th.

February 9th Grand Prix Canceled

The Dr. Luzivminda Machan Open scheduled for Saturday, February 9 has been canceled. Chess Mates will be closed that day due to expected blizzard conditions.

A decision about the Sunday G/30 will made later today or tomorrow.

February G/90 - Round 1

Serge Adelson, Leonardo Moreira and Gabriel Moreira lead after 1 round of our February G/90.

Adelson defeated Robert Vinson. The Moreira brothers received full point byes in return for representing Chess Mates in its GSCL match against Hamilton, which was held concurrently with the G/90's opening round.
